Good Evening Resident

Feeling Hot Hot Hot. . . . . . . . . but I promise I’m not going to moan about the weather just yet.

We hope you have managed to stay cool & hydrated but that you have also been security aware.

It’s very easy to think I will only be 5 minutes and then leave your vehicle or house windows open, but those 5 minutes could have inconvenient consequences. Please also be mindful of flat roofs, conservatories and extensions that give access to open first floor windows. Take a good look around your property, what items do you think could be used by an offender to gain entry? Bins, garden furniture, children’s climbing frames. Store these items securely away from any access points.

WMP Cadets, Chelmsley Wood

After achieving the West Midlands Police Excellence Award for Cadet of the Year 2025, Cadet Lola has now been awarded the “Highly Commended Award” which is affiliated with the West Midlands Lieutenancy Young Active Citizen Awards. The presentation of the award by Deputy Lieutenant - Everton Burke OBE, recognised Lola’s achievements within the community, alongside her volunteer role as a West Midlands Police Cadet.

Volunteer Cadet Leader David Smith was presented with his 5-year service certificate and pin, in recognition of the time and dedication he has provided to the Police Cadet scheme. David currently attends weekly Cadet session based at Chelmsley Wood Police station where he and fellow volunteers support Cadets.

Chelmsley Wood Cadets will be finishing for the Summer Holiday soon but we look forward to seeing them again in September.

Volunteer Cadet Leaders

Our Cadet Leadership Team consist of a Unit Commander, Deputy and Leaders; some whom are Police personnel but most are from all walks of like and are external to the police force.

We have amazing volunteers, aged 18 and above and we would really appreciate your knowledge, experience and importantly your life skills and experience.

Our Cadet Leaders empower young people and ensure all our Cadets can gain access to new opportunities.

Join us and you will be able to:

- Transfer and apply existing skills and gain the opportunity to learn new ones

- Have fun, help others and make new friends

- Gain access to further learning and training

- Engage and inspire volunteering in the community, making a difference to young people’s lives

- Learn about aspects of the police and work alongside the local Neighbourhood teams

- Be empowered and feel confident

Come and join this amazing team of young people and volunteers.

Liz has a waiting list for our young Cadets, they are keen to join, but this is only made possible when we have Leaders to support them. Could YOU make a difference.

Crime Updates

Chelmsley Wood

Overnight 17/18th June, a Ford Pima was stolen from Greenlands Road

At 07:37hrs on 18th June, a Ford Transit was stolen from Raglan Way

Overnight 18/19th June, vehicle registration plates were stolen from a Ford C-Max on Alder Drive.

At 07:10hrs on 19th June, a Toyota Icon was opened & searched, nothing taken on Alder Drive.

Around 17:47hrs on 19th June, a group of 6 males on 3 Mopeds attempted to steal a Yamaha Moped from the carpark of KFC on Moorend Ave.

Around 02:05hrs on 21st June, the front windscreen of a Hyundai was smashed on Lumley Grove.

Between 22:00hrs on 22nd & 05:22hrs on 23rd June. Offender/s removed a pane of glass from the rear of a property on Pike Drive. They entered and made a search, stealing jewellery, cash and bank cards

At 06:55hrs on 26th June, a male dressed all in black used a litter picker to access a Ford Fiesta through a slightly open window on Fillingham Close. Male was arrested.

Between 25th / 26th of June, a small amount of cash was stolen from a Volvo C70 on Nevada Way.

Between 25th / 26th of June, a mobile phone was stolen from a BMW in Byford Way.

Between 25th / 26th of June, property was stolen from a Peugeot 2008 on Alder Drive.

Between 21:00-22:00hrs on 26th June, a Chicken was stolen from a garden coop on Clover Ave.

Fordbridge

Around 17:47hrs on 19th June, a group of 6 males on 3 Mopeds attempted to steal a Yamaha Moped from the carpark of KFC on Moorend Ave.

AT 20:00hrs on 21st June, youths were throwing stones from the footbridge over Moorend Ave. 2 vehicles were damaged on this occasion.

At 04:34hrs on 23rd June, 2 offenders broke the lock on a side gate to enter a garden on Hadfield Way. They walked out carrying a Tentbox but left it in the road. Police are following lines of enquiry.
